so for today's video we are planning to avisit a traditional korean tea house (전통 찻집). and it is super hot and humid outside butit is one of those things you just have to do in seoul (서울). so we're just dealing with the heat and we'regoing to drink some hot tea and have some

Korea House

Korea House, rice cakes. let's sweat it out. let's go. so our teas have arrived.

tell us what we're having. yeah, so the one that i ordered is calledgyepi cha (계피 차) and you can have a look at it down here. it comes in a nice like kind of fancy traditionalcup. it is almost like a soup bowl. yeah, it really is. and this is a korean cinnamon tea (한국어계피 차) so i'm really excited about this. i love anything with cinnamon so this shouldbe great. and we also ordered some sweets to go alongwith the tea.

so what can you tell us? what are we having there. yeah, so this is really exciting. we've got persimmon slices. they've been dried and then we have some specialtteok (ë–¡) which is the korean rice cakes and they appear to have it looks like ricecrispies around them. yeah they're actually instead of cakes they'remore like rice crisps. and i think we've had these ones before likeseveral years ago and they're really airy. they're almost like rice puffs but they aresweet.

so i'm trying the tea (ì°¨). and i think you were the clever one today. you got yours as iced. mine is piping hot and it must be like i don'tknow 35 degrees with high humidity. yeah, it is really hot out. so i'm a little bit crazy but at least itis air conditioned in here. oh, wow. wow. that is like intense cinnamon flavor.

yeah, it kind of smells like christmas overhere. it does. and it is wonderful. like it is natural cinnamon. it is not that artificial like garbage-y type. hahaha. which are unfortunately in a lot of products. this is real authentic cinnamon. and it has got a bit of a kick to it.

okay, so for mine i got the maesilcha (매실차,梅實蜶) which is a green plum tea and it has got ice cubes in it. much needed today. you can actually see behind you there is theair conditioner guys. that huge air conditioner. that is so so hot. and this is so good it is like juice. it is like a sweet syrupy plum juice. refreshing?

um hum. so good. i think you're going to need to share thatone with me. so time to try the snacks now. yeah. so i'm going to start off with having oneof the sliced dried persimmons (감). and it appears that there is some like chunksof nuts. i'm not sure what that is. if i had to guess without even tasting iti would say maybe walnut.

mmmm. how is that? it is good. it is sweet but not too overpowering. i mean you really taste the persimmon. it is kind of like a little bit like a jam. and i think i was right i'm pretty sure thisis walnuts. hodu (호두). so really tasty.

it goes well with the tea. and we have a second snack. so do you want to try one of those? sure. oh wow. yeah these are one of the puffed rice cakes. let's have a closer look. really good. again.

they look fluffy inside. again not too strongly flavored or sugary. which is really nice because the teas arequite sweet so this is a nice light snack to go along with it. so i would say that was a very relaxing experience. it was almost like whisper quiet in therewith classical music softly playing. the cool thing is like when you arrive tothese establishments really early you can sometimes be the first person there. yeah and we were the only ones there.

yeah and it there are some people now butwhile we were having our tea we were the only people there. so pretty awesome. cool. okay so let's talk about the price for that. so the price point was nineteen thousand fivehundred won which is ₩18,500. and that is roughly about 17 us dollars rightnow. so again it was a little pricey but i meanagain we're in the insadong (인사동) area and it is very touristy.

and you're paying for that kind of like authentictea house traditional tea house (전통 찻집) experience.
